Topps Does Not Read Our Blogs: 2012 Topps

This is the reason we love Topps. It's got a nice clean white border, team oriented color scheme with a little flair, but most of all it's player focused, features a comprehensive set and is affordable. This is why I loved old Artist Proof inserts from the 90's:
They're gold and flashy and I was 7-years-old. I still like these, but their no Diamonds. I don't see too many of us collecting the whole set of these. Besides, didn't we already do the whole Golden Anniversary? I still wouldn't mind the Brewers team set, if anyone wants to work some deals. Here are some inserts that would look awesome with an Auto on them, but they don't:

Hey a Brauny, don't know how I feel about that heading into the 2012 season that he may or may not miss 50 games of, which is to say of course that the ruling holds larger implications for how I will feel about him as a player. I like the Timeless Talents one a lot more than the Diamond Duos, but that doesn't say a heck of a lot. The Gold Standard is a cool name and the card is ho-hum, reminds me of an Upperdeck production. This is how I know Topps does not read out blogs:
They reprinted the 87 Topps set?! Really? Why? It's ok, but I feel like so many of us associate the 87 Topps set with junk wax. Why then does Topps not do the popular Kimball set and replaces it with mini 87's? Mini 75's were cool in Lineage because they were retro and colorful and that set was cool anyway, but the 87 set? What's next, are we going to reprint the 2007 Topps set? Anyway, these are up for trade. Not sure if I even want to bother with the Brewers, I'd rather try to work on my Kimball set from last year.
These are ok. I really like the Gold Futures, but it also reminds me of something... Oh well it's clean and combines Black and Gold with a team color. I also got a Jose Tabata, which I should have scanned instead because the Pirates colors look great with it. The Willie Mays Golden Greats is mediocre. Don't let the scan fool you that's a fake hologram effect, which really cheapens the appearance. Well this year's set seems very ho-hum, but maybe we got spoiled last year, either way I'll end on a positive:
This is cool!
